Luke 6:46 (NKJV) 46 But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?

Do You Believe In Jesus? Luke 6:46
4
Do You Believe In Jesus? Last week, we noticed together that believing in Jesus means that we must believe: – He is God – He fulfilled prophecy – He died sinless for our sins We must also believe…
5
4. He rose from the dead During Paul’s time, there were some who did not believe in the resurrection of Jesus Some of these same people did not believe in resurrection at all Paul spoke about these same folks in I Corinthians 15
6
4. He rose from the dead Paul states that if Jesus wasn’t raised from the dead it makes our preaching and our faith useless (v. 14) He also states that if Christ is not risen then we are still in our sins (v. 17) It’s hard to believe in Jesus without believing this important fact
7
5. The reality of His Kingdom While Jesus was here he made some claims One of the things Jesus spoke a great deal about was the coming and establishing of His kingdom (church) Notice His words following Peter’s confession in Matthew 16:18…
8
5. The reality of His Kingdom If one believes in Jesus, they must believe in the kingdom He set out to build Sadly, many today do not think that the church is all that important Many believe they can be saved without it
9
5. The reality of His Kingdom The fact is that once we are saved, God adds us to the church (Acts 2:47) The fact is that the church is the body of Christ (Eph. 1:22-23; Col. 1:18) The fact is that no one can come to the Father (heaven) except through Jesus, or the church (Jn. 14:6)
10
5. The reality of His Kingdom The fact is that we are not to forsake the assembly of the church (Heb. 10:25) How can one look at all the facts and come to the conclusion that the church is not important? The fact is that if we say we believe in Jesus, we must believe in His church
11
6. His return If you believe in Jesus as God, then you must believe that He was truthful and faithful concerning His claims Jesus made the claim that He would come back again to take His own (Jn. 14:3) He will come back just as He left (Acts 1:11)
12
6. His return Paul comforts us in I Thessalonians 4 by reminding us that Jesus will come back for us (vs. 13-18) Jesus will return, and it will be good news for the obedient but bad news for the disobedient (II Thess. 1:7-10) A true belief in Jesus is a belief in His return
13
7. His words (commands) This may be the one that most people are inconsistent with We asked a very important question when we first started this lesson… Can you believe IN Jesus without believing Jesus?
14
7. His words (commands) It seems as though there are many who claim to believe in Jesus, but they do not believe His words or commands In other words, how they live does not match what they say “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” (Lk. 6:46)
15
7. His words (commands) It doesn’t make much sense to say you believe in Jesus and then turn around and ignore His commands Jesus reminded us that not everyone who calls upon Him will be saved (Matt. 7:21) Belief without obedience is what the demons do (Js. 2:19)
