On the bottom of page 28: Part C Match and Talk What will you say in each situation?

You’re late. You didn’t clean your room. Your piano playing is too loud. I have a piano contest tomorrow. I was too busy. I missed the bus. I thought it was mine. You’re sitting in my seat. Let’s match them together. 결혼시키다 “You’re late” matches with which one on the right? Right. It matches with, “I missed the bus.” Why were you late? Because you missed the bus. What about, “You didn’t clean your room.”? Which one does it match? I was too busy. Why didn’t you clean your room? You were busy, maybe studying or playing League of Legends. What about, “Your piano playing is too loud.”? Which one does it match? “I have a piano contest tomorrow.” That’s an easy one because they both mention piano. And the last one, easiest because all the others are done for you… “You’re sitting in my seat.” matches with… You’re sitting in my seat. I thought it was mine.

In America, being on time is important. But there are still people that are always late…for *everything.

You might hear someone say, He’d be late for his own funeral.

That means the person is always late.

But we still need excuses And know how to use them.

I had to wait a long time for a taxi. I was late getting somewhere, maybe school, a meeting, or work.

I got lost! ( 길을 잃었 )? Maybe it was my first time going there and I couldn’t find it.

Traffic ( 고객수 ) was terrible! I was late for something again because there were too many cars on the roads.

So now we’ll try a quick exercise. I will give each of you a piece of paper. One will have something that happened, and one will have an excuse. You need to walk around the room and see if you can find your match!
