Objectives PIMS-ICAR has been designed and developed with objectives: To create an archive of the ongoing as well as completed Research Projects under taken in the past at different institutes of ICAR On-line monitoring and concurrent evaluation of the ongoing research projects To check duplication in research projects both at divisional as well as inter divisional level Other research management requirements

PIMS-ICAR Accessibility
The system is accessible to: System Administrators Principal Investigators Nodal Officers (PME Cell I/c) Head of the Divisions Directors, ADGs, DDGs Director General of ICAR

Organisational Structure Network of PIMS-ICAR
A Coordinating Unit at the Offices of DDGs, ICAR, New Delhi Development & Maintenance at Lead Centre at IASRI, New Delhi Research Coordination & Management Unit (RCMU)/PME Cell of each Institute of ICAR This include all the Research Institutions including Directorates, NRCs, AICRPs and may also be Extension Centers

Implementation of PIMS-ICAR
PIMS-ICAR is Implemented and is operational at all Institutes of ICAR Major activities are as follows: Maintenance of PIMS -ICAR for all ongoing research projects at the institutes PME/RCM Units are responsible for quality and quantity of projects data Nodal Officers – Projects management and uploading of the completed projects under taken in the past at the institute To bring awareness and train the Scientists for projects data entry and updating

PIMS-ICAR Software PIMS-ICAR is deployed on the server of IASRI Accessible to Scientists at all ICAR institutions for submission of Research Projects data Secured access to all Directors/Nodal Officers Secured access to the authorized users (Planners, Policy Makers, and Research Managers) for projects monitoring, reports/query generation The data entry and regular updating by all ICAR institutes through their respective RCMU/PME Cell is a regular activity

Project’s Data Management Process
To initiate the data entry of a project for the FIRST TIME: PI of the project has to submit brief details of the project in the PIMS-ICAR system (No Id requires) The brief details of the project are accepted/rejected by Director/Nodal Officers of respective institute On acceptance of the brief details of the project, ProjectID and Password for the respective project is generated by the system The ProjectId and Password of the project is used for online submission of the complete details of the project 9

Data Management Process
The Nodal Officer has access right to view the ProjectId and Password of all Projects of the institute The Nodal Officer may sensitize the PIs of the project at his/her institute to enter the complete project details For submitting request for allotment of ProjectID and Password and entering project details, a Reference Guide is made available on the PIMS-ICAR website 10
