Skin Cancer Brochure

Cancer Cancer is a cell that never stops reproducing and goes on forever. They also aren’t normal cells and undergo a transformation. Cells need to divide so they can grow, repair, and also stay small. All the cells need to do is basically feed and grow without being uncontrollable. If they were to stay big they wouldn’t be able to fit inside humans or also be able to diffuse and go to your bloodstream. It is common in the skin because the ultraviolet rays from the sun are hitting the skin cells (stratum basale) which causes them to overreact and kills them off because the heat of the sun. Your stratum basale can’t keep up and can’t reproduce enough to keep up.

ABCDE’s Of Skin Cancer One way to look for skin cancer is to find a undeveloped mole and check its’ size and if it’s asymmetrical. Next would be the border of the mole, you need to check the outside of it to see if it is scalloped or rough. Making sure you’re able to cut the mole into two separate halves and still be equally divided. Then you would look for the color of the mole and make sure it’s not red or bleeding. If it’s brown it’s fine but, if it’s dark dark brown and red get it checked. After that you should check the diameter of the mole if its bigger then the tip of an eraser then get it checked immediately. Last of all look for evolvement in the mole. If the mole has grown bigger then it should be checked by the doctor, because it can be a sign of malignant mole.

ABCDE’s Of Skin Cancer

Skin Cancer Types Pt 1. Basal cell carcinoma originates in the skin or deeply in the epidermis. It’s made because of the ultraviolet rays being released by the sun and also the exposure over lifetime. Basal cell carcinoma sometimes looks like a scar, a red patch or even a sore. It sometimes doesn’t even grow in size but in a rare occasion it can spread to your body and once it does it will need to be treated. Basal cell carcinoma can be caught by a history of genetics through your family and being exposed to the sun too much. It also can be normal for males other than females to catch basal cell carcinoma when they’re older.

Skin Cancer Types Pt 2. Squamous cell carcinoma is an uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells of the squamous in the epidermis. The way to notice it more is on your lip , it can look like a sore or wart. They may bleed and crust and can become really deadly if a person lets them grow. It is caused by too much sun exposure or UV rays. Another way to catch it is going to a tanning bed or being exposed by the summer sun too much over a period of a lifetime. It can occur in all the areas of the human body in the mucous or in the genital areas. it is most common to occur in the ear, lower lip, scalp, neck , hands, and arms.

Skin Cancer Types Pt 3. Melanoma forms when unrepaired skin cells are severely damaged. It can be commonly caused by tanning beds or ultraviolet rays which makes than skin transform into a malignant cell that causes it to multiply and form a tumor. They form in the Basal layer because of the pigment and melanocytes. It can be easily treated if caught early but if not than it can spread around the body which can kill you. Everyone is at risk of melanoma if you stay in the sun for a long or exposed for a period of time. It also depends on family history and how many moles you have in your body.

Things I Didn’t Know About Pt 1.
More than 90% of skin cancer is caused by the sun. The cause of melanoma is increasing by 44% since 1973. People with lighter hair skin color or eyes are more likely to develop skin cancer. The skin cancer is more higher for whites than a darker skinned American. Exposures to larger amounts of chemicals or arsenics are major influences in cancer causing substances. Cancer is mainly found in older men above 50 then women above 50. Over a decade people had been more diagnosed with skin cancer than any other cancer. Which is very interesting. You can prevent cancer by using sunscreen to block out UV rays.

Things I Didn’t Know About Pt 2.
I think it’s crazy how common skin cancer can be among older people but yet not young people. Also it’s crazy on how common it is. 90% of the most common of cancers are skin cancers, in my opinion that’s a crazy percentage rate. What’s even more crazy is that men have a bigger chance to develop skin cancer than women can. It’s also really interesting how the rate for lighter skinned people have a boost up of getting skin cancer than those with darker eyes, hair, and skin tone. That’s just a big “wow”. So if you plan to stay out in the sun for a while better wear that the sunscreen because it can really lower the percentage rate that you’re risking yourself in getting skin cancer.
