Statement of the Problem An emerging concern that American society faces is childhood obesity.

Research Questions What are the innovative approaches that school systems are taking to reduce obesity? What role do school administrators believe schools should play in helping to address this issue? Do school administrators believe that the interventions they are currently advocating will be effective in the long run?

Methodology I designed my research using the quantitative method. By using this method, the view is that of an outsider, and it is upheld as an objective perspective. The purpose of this research project was highly influenced by the quantitative research method. Along with the purpose, this research method was predetermined and structured, and did not change during the course of the study. In analyzing my data I used the descriptive statistics technique. I chose this method because of the non- experimental research design that was used.

Findings/Conclusions In conclusion, America has noticed the growing concern for obese children. Therefore, schools are taking charge and implementing alternatives to help control obesity. School’s have shown progress in the fight against obesity. The ways that school’s are contributing is controlling the food obtained by children during school hours and the amount of exercise a child participates in while at school.
