3 Place Value with Decimals Identify place value of decimals to thousandths. Lesson 1.1

4 Vocabulary Decimal A base ten number written with a decimal point. decimal decimal point Good to Know! Decimals are based on the number ten. The value and position of each digit in a decimal determine how much the decimal is worth. The decimal point separates the whole number from the part that is less than one.

5 Example 1 Write 431.25 in word form. Fill in the place-value chart for the number.
