People Affected Bipolar disorder is developed equally among both gender and it is found in all races, ethnic groups, and social classes. However, research has shown that women are three times more likely to experience mood- cycling compare to men. Treatment There is no real cure for bipolar disorder. The only treatment is doctor prescribed drugs and continuous psychology therapy.

Diagnosis The doctor will conduct a complete medical history and physical exam to rule out other physical conditions. In doing so, the health professional will talk to the person’s close relatives, and record down how they describe the person symptoms and behaviors. Interesting Facts In the United States two million or more (1% of the population) are diagnosed with bipolar disorder. - Buzz Aldrin, and Robert Downey Jr. both have bipolar disorder. - 50% of persons with Bipolar Disorder are under the age of 18
