7 Phase 1 – State Legislative District Project- 2005 - 2006 NC provides legislative district information to the Census Bureau Census Bureau inserts boundaries into TIGER Census Bureau tabulates 2000 Census data to current legislative districts

8 Phase 2 – Voting District/Block Boundary Suggestion Project 2007 - 2009 NC provides voting district information to the Census Bureau NC suggests features as census tabulation blocks for 2010 Census Bureau tabulates data following the 2010 Census

9 Phase 3 – Data Delivery for Census 2010 2010 - 2011 Census Bureau delivers population totals and geographic products for the small areas defined in Phases 1 and 2 Occurs no later than April 1, 2011, as mandated by P.L. 94-171

10 Phase 4 – Collection of Post 2010 Census Redistricting Plans 2012 - 2013 Census Bureau collects newly drawn state legislative and congressional district plans Census Bureau produces data for USDOJ

11 Phase 5 – Evaluation and Recommendations 2012 - 2014 Census Bureau works with the NCSL to document the Census Bureau’s successes and failures A final publication will summarize the view of the states
