Bay of Pigs 1961: Pres John F Kennedy had US military train Cuban exiles to overthrow Castro Land in Bay of Pigs in Cuba Castro defeats, US loses 1,189 men were captured and each was sentenced to 30 years in prison. After twenty months of negotiation, most were released in exchange for $53 million in food and medicine.

JFK says: –USSR must remove missiles –US will blockade Cuba to prevent any more from entering –US is prepared to invade Cuba *Remember, both countries have nuclear weapons (A & H bombs)…. What happens if the USSR continues to build missiles? Brinkmanship: edge of nuclear war!
