Performance Level Descriptors (PLDs) Indicate what a typical student at each level should be able to demonstrate based on his/her command of grade-level standards. Level 1: Did not yet meet expectations Level 2: Partially met expectations Level 3: Approached expectations Level 4: Met expectations Level 5: Exceeded expectations
3
Reading The performance levels at each grade level are differentiated by three factors: 1. Text complexity 2. The range of accuracy in expressing reading comprehension demonstrated in student responses 3. The quality of evidence cited from sources read
4
Reading Literary Text: Students meet expectations by showing they can read and analyze grade appropriate fiction, drama and poetry. Informational Text: Students meet expectations by showing they can read and analyze grade-appropriate non-fiction, including texts about history, science, art, and music. Vocabulary: Students meet expectations by showing they can use context to determine what words and phrases mean in grade-appropriate texts.
5
Writing 1.Written expression How consistently and fully students develop ideas, including when drawing evidence from one or more sources 2. Knowledge of language and conventions How well they organize their writing, and their command of grammar and language usage.
