4 Essential Questions  Can we believe everything we read, view or hear?  How do we determine what’s useful and what’s not?  What makes a resource outstanding?

5 Goal  Your goal is to evaluate a butterfly website. You must decide whether or not the website should be added as a library resource link on the Howard-Suamico School District (HSSD) web pages.library resource link

6 Role  You are a student representative of the HSSD Evaluating Resources Committee.

7 Audience  The audience is the HSSD Evaluating Resources Committee.  You also must think about the second grade students who will be using the butterfly website for research.

8 Situation  You have been asked to review a butterfly website and evaluate it for accuracy, ease of use, and appropriateness for use by second grade students.evaluate  Be prepared to convince the HSSD Evaluating Resource Committee to link the website of your choice to the library resource page for second grade science.

9 Product Performance and Purpose:  Using SMART notebook software prepare a virtual tour of your butterfly website.  Include an evaluation of the website and how it will or will not help second grade students understand the life cycle of a butterfly.second grade

10 Standards and Criteria for Success  Your SMART Notebook video should : Include a tour of the basic features of the website Clearly state why you do (or do not) recommend the website be linked to district resource page Give support for the decision
