Implications 40 out of 64 districts are affected by flood 20 out of 30 million people affected needed immediate support Cost and damage of property and infrastructure is estimated 6.6 million dollars Up to 10 million people is in need of emergency food assistance for a period of three months Roughly 5 million will need food support for six months or longer

Critical Issues Poor families will not be able to recover their food income support within the next six months Loss of daily labour opportunities resulting in limited or no purchasing power Full scale involvement of the affected farm families in their respective farm activities to sustain the household food security Family income support based on respective activities will not be recovered until six months (January 2005) GoB capacity to support immediate crop production in view of limited transplanting time for T.Aman

Critical Issues 20% of the affected farm families for each sector could be considered for assistance (in addition to GoB rehabilitation program) Crop- 3.7 Million farm families affected - Availability and supply of seedlings and immediate agricultural inputs Livestock - affected animals: Cattle and Buffaloes 07.5 million Sheep and Goats 02.6 million Poultry 35.4 million - Shortage of vaccines and medicines - Feed shortage (concentrate and roughage) Fisheries---0.33 million ponds - Availability & supply of fish fingerlings - Provision of immediate pond management

Critical Needs and Priorities Crops - Immediate supply of agricultural inputs - i) Seeds : a) T. Aman b) Vegetables c) Boro rice d) Wheat e) Hybrid Maize f) Pulses & f) other winter crops ii) Fertilizers :Urea, TSP, ADP and MP Livestock –-Vaccines and medicines -Feeds and fodder -Day old chicks Fisheries - Fish fingerlings - Pond management inputs - Immediate food supply necessary for affected infants and women - Consistency of food assistance package per family per day: rice 1 kg, pulses 0.25 kg, oil 0.15 kg, salt 0.02 kg

OUTCOME Farm activities will be recovered with adequate immediate support on agricultural inputs within the next 24 weeks, which consequently will support the food security at household level.
