2 Roosevelt Corollary -In 1904 President Roosevelt asserted America’s right to act as a “policeman” in Latin America, stepping in only in cases of “wrong doing” or whenever those nations seemed unstable.

3 Positive: Kept European countries from building an empire close to America.

4 Negative: Kept America busy being the keeper of other countries business.

5 Dollar Diplomacy- Was President Taft’s policy of linking American business interests to diplomatic interests in other countries.

6 Positive: American businesses grew in Latin America, which helped the local country build roads, railroads, and harbors.

7 Negative: When American businesses were threatened the U.S. government would send in military support. This caused the Latin countries to fear the U.S. and want them out of their countries.

8 Moral Diplomacy- President Wilson’s foreign policy to support America’s economic interests following what he thought was the morally correct thing to do, moral principals.

9 Positive: America was trying to do the “right” or “moral” thing when it was dealing with foreign countries.

10 Negative: When anti-American governments took control in Latin America, we had to resort to using military force.
