Did you know? Sr. Anita played Snow White in an operetta in the 8 th Grade Once she caught two boys skipping class and they called her “Anita the Hun”. She takes a 30 minute walk every morning; rain or shine, she rarely used the elevator and takes the steps to her 3 rd floor apartment. Crafts exquisite hand-embroidered towels. Taught herself to play the organ after only a few lessons. Has kept a record of all the books she’s read since 1986. (That’s about 45 books a year! You do the math)

I don’t feel retired. I’m as healthy as a horse.

Recently, Sr. Anita retired from teaching students social studies, religion, and English; twenty years in grade schools, and thirty-six in high school. Now, she’s again living at Notre Dame and has taken on the job of community archivist full-time and started substitute teaching and tutoring at St. Philip Neri School in Omaha. As Sr. Anita looks to the future, she wants to keep working with kids, travel a bit more and stay in contact with her former students and friends from O’Neill, Nebraska and other schools where she has taught. She enjoyed the enthusiasm of the students and the support of their parents. She’s made a lot of good friends and still keeps in touch with many of them.
