1 Global Environments

2 Mountains A mountain is a large landform that stretches around a certain area, usually in the form of a peak. Mountains are located in every continent and every climate, from tropical places like Fiji to polar regions like Antarctica. Some fauna that live on mountains are: the Andean Condor, Chinchilla, Llama, Vicuna, Mountain Goat, Snow leopard and the wild Yak. Mountains are formed due to the slow and gigantic movement of the Earth's crust.

4 Grasslands Grasslands are areas where the vegetation is dominated by grasses and other plants. About one fourth of the Earth’s land area is grassland. There are two types of grasslands, including : Tropical grassland - hot all year with wet seasons that bring torrential rains. They are located between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, sometimes called savannas. Temperate grasslands - hot summers and cold winters. The evaporation rate is high, so little rain makes it into the rich soil. Located north of the Tropic of Cancer and south of the Tropic of Capricorn. There are so many animals that live on grasslands, some of which are African elephant, lions, zebras, giraffe and black rhinoceros.

6 Polar Regions Polar regions are part of the Earth's surface forming a cap over a pole; characterized by frigid climate. Polar regions are located in the North and South poles. The Arctic is in the north and the Antarctic is in the south. Some fauna that lives in polar regions include: the polar bear, caribou, musk ox, wolf , wolverine, arctic fox, ermine, lemming, arctic hare, arctic ground squirrel, birds, whales, harp seal an the walrus.
