1
Explain the structure and processes within the hydrosphere. 1
2
Explain how water is an energy agent (currents and heat transfer). 2
3
A cause of temperature and density differences in a liquid or gas that caused the distributing of heat in a circular motion. 3
4
Surface Currents Deep Water Currents 4
5
The amount of salt in the water. 5
6
Constantly moving, deep ocean current. This is driven by temperature and salinity (Causing density) 6
7
Due to the convection currents. This is because of the temperature changes and density changes. 7
8
Inland climates have larger temperature differences. Costal climates are more mild due to be close to a large body of water. 8
9
Explain how ground water and surface water interact. 9

Evaporation Precipitation Condensation 11
12
Water located beneath the earth’s surface in soil pore spaces 12
13
Drained into aquifers and other collections. Also moves through soil and earth by gravity and pressure. 13
14
Underground layer of water-bearing permeable rock Two kinds: Unconfined Confined 14
15
Area or ridge of land that separated water flowing to different rivers, basins, or seas. 15
16
A river system is the actual flowing river, the river basin the entire area that is draining into the river 16
17
The level below where the ground is saturated with water. So below a lake, river, stream etc. 17
18
When the ground water and water tables are saturated or “full” with water the water has no where else to go. So the flooding can be severe. Areas that have more space to hold ground water and have large water tables will be less likely to flood. 18
