10 Social Studies There are four social studies units that will be taught throughout the year in grade 4. Unit 1: Geography of Canada Unit 2: Mapping Skills Unit 3: Government and Trade Unit 4: The Inuit and Culture

11 Science Unit 1: Habitats and Communities Together we will explore the interactions that take place between plant and animal populations within a community

12 Science Unit 2: Light Students become familiar with the properties of light by investigating and observing how light interacts with various objects in the environment.

13 Science Unit 3: Sound Understanding that sound is caused by vibrations helps students when they explore how sound travels, how the human ear is designed to detect sound, and how certain factors can modify the sound produced.

14 Science Unit 4: Rocks and Minerals The study of rocks and minerals introduces students to geology. By examining various rocks and minerals found in the Earth's crust, students learn about their characteristics and properties.

16 Extra Classes and Help Social Studies Plus Activities Every Wednesday at 3:30 – 4:10 Last year’s included: Yoga, Photograph, Papier Mache, Olympic Trials, Web Design House Games Once a month Getting Extra Help: Students can come in at lunch and after school for extra help.

17 I.L.C. – International Learning Centre The I.L.C will be working with students who require small group help with their English language skills and classroom work. Mrs. Laine will be our main I.L.C teacher.

19 Behaviour Management Name is written on the board 3 times in one day, note is sent home Golden Time Explain Pizza Points Homework Chart – Did not finish 3 days a month, note is sent home - Please write a note for your child for any excused reasons

20 Homework Will be assigned everyday of the week The purpose of our homework is to build off of what is being taught in class. It is also intended to encourage a strong work ethic. Home Reading – 20 minutes of English reading every night. Please read with your child! This include Fluency practice every night.

21 Parental Involvement Check your child’s agenda everyday Help them with their homework Keep track of what they are learning Attend school events – March into Reading, Science Fair, Sports Day etc.

22 Class Website Tour Check daily – Latest news, dates, and subject progression Source for extra practice and help Students are required to do some homework via website later www.clifford4a.weebly.com
