2. A Little About The Oceania Project  In 1976 Trish and Wally Franklin’s became interested in Cetacean and the oceans.  “The Oceanic Project,” was established in 1988 and is not-for–profit and educational organisation.  In 1989 The Oceanic Project’s first whale research expedition to Hervey Bay occurred.  Between 1989 -2013 The Oceania Project's Whale Research Expeditions provided a dedicated long term research platform to observe and study Humpback Whales in Hervey Bay.

3. The Oceania Projects Goals  The Oceania Project aims to increase national and international awareness of the process of rehabilitation, preservation and conservation of whales, dolphins, porpoises and the oceans through educating the world.  Conduct scientific research of whales, dolphins, porpoises and the oceans.  Improve the publics understanding of the oceans and whales importance.  Create facilities and services necessary to circulate and present information relating to whales and the oceans.

4. The Oceania Project Humpback Whale Study Area in Hervey Bay Hervey Bay is located off the south- east coast of Queensland, Australia, is a stop-over for Humpback Whales as they migrate north along side of the eastern side of Fraser Island which is between June and July. 5. The Oceania Youth Project The youth internship program gives young adults the opportunity to work with a team of Marine Mammal Research Scientist’s. The Youth Project provides a hands on opportunity to learn about Whales, Dolphins and the Ocean Environment Interns live and work 5 nights and 6 days aboard The Oceania Projects Annual Whale Research Expedition in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia. Young adults assist in the daily research activities undertaking tasks involved in the operation of the Expedition vessel.
