A circular arrangement of primary, secondary, and tertiary colors

Color Wheel Primary Colors Yellow, Red, and Blue
Cannot be made by mixing other colors All other colors are made from these 3 colors

Color Wheel Secondary Colors Orange, Green, Violet
Made by mixing equal amounts of two primary colors Red + Yellow= Orange Yellow + Blue = Green Blue + Red= Violet

Blue-Violet, Red-Violet, Blue-Green, Yellow-Green, Yellow-Orange, and Red-Orange Made by mixing equal amounts of a primary and a secondary color

The value of a hue is made lighter by adding white, darker by adding black

Example: Maroon is a shade of red Outer ring of the color wheel Tint The addition of white to a hue Example: Pink is a tint of red Inner ring of the color wheel Tone The addition of gray to a hue
