2 Socrates was born in Athens in the fourth year of the 77th Olympiad Socrates was the son of Sophroniscus His mother was Phaenarete.

3 Socrates' wife Xanthippe bore him 3 sons Socrates had a second wife. Socrates developed a method.

4 The pursuit of wisdom became Socrates' full-time job He questioned many people in the towns and citizens in the marketplace about their beliefs and ideas. Socrates spent almost his whole life in Athens.

5 In 399 BC Socrates was brought to trial and sentenced to death.

6 1.Skeptical outlook on the questions presented by Socrates and the people with him.  Pursuit of knowledge by asking questions and finding answers which over time will be refined to the point of being almost perfect.

7 2.Dialogue with men around him  Opinions are combined and Socrates is able to get the truths between everyone to decide upon the answers that are thought of first and quickly. Method of taking general knowledge and talking about it until a more

8 3.He thought that the definition of something was the first step in proving something to be absolutely true

9 4.Definitions are scrutinized over to make sure that they fit exactly what they are describing.

10 5.Definition is tested by trying to find things wrong with it.  Logic of definitions helped inspire the dialect of Plato and Aristotle.
