Energy is the ability to do work When work is done energy gets transferred from one object to another Ex. of energy is heat, light, motion, etc
3
1. it can be transferred from one object to another using work 2. It has many forms and interchangable 3. It can be stored and used later to perform work 4. It is always conserved
4
1. Gravitational Potential Energy- the energy stored as a result of position 2. Kinetic Energy- energy of moving objects, i.e walking 3. Heat energy- steam can drive a turbine 4. Radiant energy- ex. Solar panels
5
5. Chemical potential energy- dynamite, flex a muscle, burn coal 6. Elastic energy- a bent bow as you shoot an arrow 7. Electrical energy- dishwashers 8. Nuclear energy- energy released from the nucleus of an atom
6
Most energy is released when the object strikes another object Amount of K.E depends on how fast the object is moving, how much force it is given and it’s mass Ex. A curling rock will have more K.E (and do more work) than a hockey puck travelling at the same speed
7
K.E OF ANY OBJECT IS A RESULT OF THE WORK BEING DONE ON THE OBJECT!!!!
