 Energy is the ability to do work  When work is done energy gets transferred from one object to another  Ex. of energy is heat, light, motion, etc

 1. it can be transferred from one object to another using work  2. It has many forms and interchangable  3. It can be stored and used later to perform work  4. It is always conserved

 1. Gravitational Potential Energy- the energy stored as a result of position  2. Kinetic Energy- energy of moving objects, i.e walking  3. Heat energy- steam can drive a turbine  4. Radiant energy- ex. Solar panels

 5. Chemical potential energy- dynamite, flex a muscle, burn coal  6. Elastic energy- a bent bow as you shoot an arrow  7. Electrical energy- dishwashers  8. Nuclear energy- energy released from the nucleus of an atom

 Most energy is released when the object strikes another object  Amount of K.E depends on how fast the object is moving, how much force it is given and it’s mass  Ex. A curling rock will have more K.E (and do more work) than a hockey puck travelling at the same speed

 K.E OF ANY OBJECT IS A RESULT OF THE WORK BEING DONE ON THE OBJECT!!!!
