1. CNC Design Challenge Storage Solutions M. Francis Grade 9 Tech Ed

2. Problem Statement  Design and construct a desktop organizer that will hold your regular classroom needs.

3. Research  Google these questions and find an answer  What is the meaning of CNC?  What are 3 other types of products that can be used on the CNC iCarver?  What are 3 existing solutions to this problem?  Be sure to copy your website sources and paste them into your portfolio.

4. Possible Solutions  Find a picture or two of an existing solution.  Create a new idea for your desktop organizer.

5. Sketches  You must generate at least three original sketches. You can draw them by hand and paste them here.  Below is two examples of the types of sketches you could create…

6. Decision and Rationale  What design will I make?  I will attempt to make the designto match my sketch #1.  Why?  I believe that the upright holes for the pen and pencil will make them stand up nicely.  I like to use a big eraser, so now I will have a place to store it at my desk.

7. Developing a Solution  Take pictures of your process and paste them in here.  You can paste multiple pictures on one slide, or each photo can have its own slide.

8. Re-Evaluate  Answer the following questions in your design portfolio after you complete.  Take some time to re-evaluate your design and consider how it feels to use.  Did your design solve the problem? Why or why not?  What modifications did you make?  What are some positive features of your design?  How could the design be improved or innovated?
