LEARNING STYLES 1. cognitive style 認知型態 2. learning style 學習風格
3. reflective style 反思式 4. impulsive style 衝動式 5. bicognitive style 雙重認知
4
Field Independence(FI)
Field independent style 場地獨立: your ability to perceive a particular, relevant item or factor in a field of distracting items. This field may be perceptual and abstract.
5
Field dependence(FD) Field dependence style 場地依賴:
conversely the tendency to be dependent on the total field. Field dependence is synonymous with field sensitivity.
6
Comparison of FI and FD Abraham found learners who were
FI performed better in deductive lessons. (推論) FD more successful with inductively lesson designs.(歸納)
7
The child, more predominantly FD, may have a cognitive style advantage over the more FI adult.
Stephen Krashen Adults: use more monitoring and learning strategies Children: utilize strategies of acquisition
8
Left and Right- Brain Functioning 左右腦功能
9
The left hemisphere: logical, analytical thought, with mathematical and linear processing of information. The right hemisphere: perceives and remembers visual, tactile, and auditory images
10
Left-brain-dominant Intellectual Remembers names
Responds to verbal instructions and explanations Experiments systematically and with control Makes objective judgments Planned and structured Prefers established, certain in formation Analytic reader Reliance on language in thinking and remembering Prefers talking and writing Prefers multiple-choice tests Controls feelings Not good at interpreting body language Rarely uses metaphors Favors logical problem solving
11
Right-brain-dominant
Intuitive Remembers faces Responds to demonstrated, illustrated, or symbolic instructions Experiments randomly and with less restraint Makes subjective judgments Fluid and spontaneous Prefers elusive, uncertain information Synthesizing reader Reliance on images in thinking and remembering Prefers drawing and manipulating objects Prefers open-ended questions More free with feelings Good ate interpreting body language Frequently uses metaphors Favors intuitive problem solving
12
Conclusion: FI and FD generally apply well for left- and right- brain functioning, respectively.
