Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 Audio Design of V80 Triplets based platform ICs Neptune IC - contains the audio DSP PCAP IC -contains the CODEC, stereo DAC, audio amplifiers & audio control logic circuits Note: Neptune CODEC not used, uses only PCAP CODEC

Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 PCAP Tx Audio MK 1200 3 mic input paths Handset mic : AUX_MIC- Headset mic : MIC_IN- CE mic : EXT_MIC HJACK MIC INT_MIC+

Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 PCAP Rx Audio J1260 LS1 4 spkr output paths Handset Spkr : SPKR+/- Headset Spkr : ARIGHT_OUT Alert Spkr : ALRT+/- CE Spkr : EXTOUT Alert Spkr

Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 Handset Audio Loopback Check Objective: To check that handset mic & spkr are both functional Step 1: Setup Use RadioComm Put phone in suspend mode Set AUD_PATH : Input- Internal Mic Output- Internal Spkr Set AUD_LVL=15 User must hear feedback from mic to spkr when mic is being rubbed

Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 If loopback fails: Step 2: Check Transceiver board Verify mic input path into PCAP Measure MIC_BIAS1 =2.1V (R1001 inside PCAP shield SH 900) Measure INT_MIC+ = 0.7V (C1001 inside PCAP shield SH 900) Verify spkr output path from PCAP Under AUD_TN_GEN Set Frequency : 1000Hz Set Level 1 : 7FFF (default) Probe 1KHz signal to verify at SPKR+ : R1210 SPKR- : R1211 ( located at 60 BB connector)

Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 Headset Audio Loopback Check Objective: To check that headset mic & spkr are both functional Step 1:Setup Use RadioComm Put phone in suspend mode Set AUD_PATH : Input- Boom Mic Output- Boom Spkr Set AUD_LVL=15 User must hear feedback from mic to spkr when mic is being rubbed

Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 If loopback fails: Step 2: Check Transceiver board Verify mic input path into PCAP Measure MIC_BIAS2 =2.1V (R1020 inside PCAP shield SH 901) Measure HJACK_MIC = 1.4V (C1241 besides headset jack J1240) Measure HJACK _DET ( VR1241 besides headset jack J1240) = 2.7 V (headset unplugged) = 0 V (headset plugged)

Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 Verify spkr output path from PCAP Make a call connection between HP8922 & phone Demodulation Modulating speech out connected to scope at CH1 1KHz signal from Sig Gen to modulation speech in at HP8922 Plug in headset Probe signal from scope CH2 at ARIGHT_OUT (C1034 inside PCAP shield SH900) Scope Modulation In AM/ Speech Signal Gen

Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 CE Audio Check Objective: To check that CE mic & spkr are both functional Verify spkr output path from PCAP Setup same as headset test setup Plug in CE accessories Probe signal from scope CH2 at AUDIO_OUT (R1055 inside PCAP shield SH900)

Motorola Confidential Proprietary V80 Alert Spkr Check Verify spkr output from PCAP Step 1:Setup Use RadioComm Put phone in suspend mode Under Alert Enabled Classic Probe signal at ALRT+ : C1063 ALRT- : C1064 (Inside PCAP shield SH900)
