PREWRITNG BRAINSTORMING BRAINSTORMING The main idea behind brainstorming is that it doesn’t really have to make sense. You start out by writing down the topic and then listing as many ideas that come into your head. Example of Free Writing Topic: Describe the most beautiful place you’ve seen. I remember my visit to northern Florida and the island that I visited one day with some friends. It was an old place… with old buildings and a few wild animals that roamed the entire island. The ocean side of the island seemed to go on forever… the beach was long… there was a stream… and the stream that led into the water was so picturesque. It looked something you would see in a picture… it didn’t seem real.
