Plot Structure Plot is the literary element that describes the structure of a story. It shows the arrangement of events and actions within a story.

Plot Structure Components Exposition: The way things are before the action starts (who what where when).. Rising Action: Something that creates suspense, usually an obstacle that makes the conflict more complicated.. Climax: The turning point; the most intense moment in the story. Falling Action: all of the action which follows the Climax. Resolution: The conclusion of the story, the tying together of all of the threads. Conflict: Every story needs a conflict or a problem that needs to be resolved.
