2 Vocabulary Indentured Servant-a person agrees to work for someone for a set period of time (usually 5 years) in exchange for paying for their transportation to the colonies. Works toward their freedom. Slave trade-buying and selling of enslaved (slaves) people Artisan-a worker with a special skill ex- carpenter or a shoemaker Huguenots-settlers to NY from France

4 Who came to New York? British-British were from England, Scotland and Wales. French-Huguenots settled in New Paltz Germans settled in Dutchess County Rhinebeck
