A measure of need Enhances our role – to inform and influence policy-making and campaigning Increases scope for good information and briefing for – politicians, policy-makers, service users and campaigners Data, stats in particular are persuasive – they can support and counter arguments in debate Type of Data - a balance of quantitative and qualitative methodology – statistical form v. narrative
