2 In this story, the authors compare life as it was for their parents and grandparents to life as it is for people today in the community of Scammon Bay, Alaska.

3 This nonfiction selection depicts the lives of three generations of a Yup’ik Eskimo family. Life for Alice’s and Billy’s children is different than the way their grandmother, Mary Ann remembers her childhood. Yet, many things have stayed the same.

11 The other sentences in the paragraph give supporting details.

12 Compare/Contrast Comparing and Contrasting identifies the similarities and differences between two or more parts of a selection.
