2 Timeline 30050014001700 The Classical Period Middle Ages The Renaissance (1453) Age of Discovery ( 1419) The Industrial Revolution (1760) The Enlightenment (1750)

3 The Classical period ( 300’s) Cause: After capturing Greece around 1200 before Christ, the Doric and the Ionic people stayed in war for ages. It never was a unity, but around 700 before Christ a relatively quiet period began. Effects: advances in math, philosophy, law, literature, art, architecture, and politics.

4 Middle Ages (500’s) Cause: invasions of the barbarian people as well as the migrations that were the direct result of these invasions. Effects: the birth of the cities, the flourishing business and the growing independency of the people.

5 The Renaissance (1400’s) Cause: ideas and principals of the Classical Period. Effects: influenced in new style of art

6 Age of Discovery (1400’s) Cause: search of alternative trade routes to the indies. Effects: discover of new lands like America.

7 Industrial Revolution (1700’s) Cause: Modern manufacturing began with steam engines replacing animal labor. Effects: replacement of manual labor by new inventions and machinery.

8 The Enlightenment( 1700’s) Cause: a change away from traditional religious sources of authority, and a move towards science and rational thought. Effects: American Revolutionary War and French Revolution.
