I Am The Cheese By Robert Cormier Presentation By: Matt Queener Ms. Kuhens English 2 Honors

Plot It all starts with Adam Farmer a boy who rides his bike from Monument, Massachusetts to Rutterburg, Vermont to find his father so he can give him a package. Adam has had a strange life filled with secrets and lies that he doesn’t even know about. This results in the struggle on the inside to find out who he really is.

“The front tire wobbles franticly. And I keep yelling to myself, Its Alright Its Alright”(26). “The front tire wobbles franticly. And I keep yelling to myself, Its Alright Its Alright”(26). I think we can all relate to this situation. There has been once in all of our lives when we have said Its Alright Its Alright. Knowing good and well something bad is going to happen. One time I think of is when I was riding a bike being chased by a bum and as I tried to take of as fast as possible the front wheel starts moving and I am saying the same thing as Adam. I crash but still get away

“I emerge from the drugstore and walk to the parking meter and my bike is gone”(136). We have all had something stolen at least once. This obsticly Adam faces, could hurt his chances to find his father. I have also had a bike stolen well it wasn’t mine but you could say it was because I gave a lot of effort to get it back(it was nicks bike).

“I almost turned back. But I didn’t. I thought of my father and kept pedaling”(5). “I almost turned back. But I didn’t. I thought of my father and kept pedaling”(5). This is like a battle of wills that Adam is facing. It reminds me of a everyday struggle I go through in basketball practice. Its when you are dead tired and Coach Wright says keep running. You want to stop but you think about how much you love the game. Just like how he thought about his father.
