2. What I planned Study the many features of Google Translator Toolkit Translate a 300-character speech by Chinese President Xi Jinping into English using the GTT Have the same piece of speech run in Wordfast Anywhere and experiment with Wordfast Anywhere

3. What I found GTT is an incredibly easy to use statistical machine translation tool Its machine translation did a surprisingly good job on the experiment Wordfast Anywhere has more complicated features and is thus more difficult to use

4. What went well GTT was carefully studied and its features fully explored Experiment with Xi’s speech went very well I am now more convinced of SMT’s power Quality translation can be achieved with a good SMT engine and controlled language

5. What challenges I faced I had to switch to another browser to use GTT’s MT suggestions because Safari did not work in this case I found Wordfast Anywhere too confusing and complicated to use

6. What didn’t go well The experiment with translating the speech in Wordfast Anywhere was not very successful Wordfast Anywhere has powerful features but I failed to find out how to use them

7. Conclusion Google Translator Toolkit is a very good option for beginners experimenting with CAT tools and its MT functions very well on a statistical basis
