What is this? The College Version of Going Green Collection of talks and seminars Made by the students, for the students Intended to convince participants to Change their wasteful habits Switch to “greener” policies Rethink their current mindset

What Do We Want? To change the environmental mindset of every participant in the program To make this change last and spread to others Ensure this program can expand, develop, and extend Last for years and adapt to a changing world Spread to everyone who is affected by environmental change

Phases Initiative Create and organize program Allowance Submit program to RPI administration Creation Personalization and advertisement Revision Review program, improve, and repeat

Why, why RPI? Has the resources, ability and mindset Is a frontier for change and innovation Open to new ideas and a changing ideology Halfway between a city and suburbs setting Potential to expand to localities

Who’s going to care? Students Past Present Future Undergraduate Graduate Environmental organizations People of Troy Average Joe Mayor The school School board Teachers Higher-ups All in it

But wait, there’s more! This program has great potential to grow Other colleges could adapt the program Could be recognized on a national level Implemented in lower level schools “Going Green” is currently trending Basic support of the idea exists Lasting idea for the future

Here’s an example! Give the average consumption of an average student Put this energy into relatable terms Present these same units in terms of energy wasted Recommend solutions for reducing waste On/off campus Short/long term

What you can do Switch it off Lights Power Strips Takes a lot more energy to keep it on than push it off Reduce Plates in dining halls Laundry habits

Parallel Ideas Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Young education of environmental policies Ohio’s Environmental Education State-wide effort to educate adults Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) Southwest interstate effort to improve energy efficiency and policies

So… Why not change the world? With this program, we can promise change on a person level This change will add up to be on an impactful and lasting level We can save the environment yet But it starts with you
