Honors English CSD Board’s expectations for rigor in honors Requirements added to the district curriculum maps for ELA (again, lack of rigor is a concern for the Board, so we have been working on this problem at the district level): 8th grade: One year-long project, two smaller projects per term. 7th grade: One additional project per unit. 6th grade: One additional project per unit. Teachers are expected to add rigor and differentiation through product, process, and/or content (teachers may choose to use the same text or a different text with honors classes as with regular classes) Utah Compose score expectations are higher Summer reading assignment for Unit 1 acceleration or for a first unit that differs from the regular classes Handout with project ideas for grades 7 & 8 Krista Dodds & Whitney Lee – 7 th grade ELA teachers
