Definitions Coordinate plane – a grid system formed by 2 number lines that cross at 0. Origin – the point where the two number lines cross (0,0) X-axis – horizontal number line Y-axis – vertical number line Ordered pair – the coordinates that locate a point

Musical Quadrants I will call out a quadrant You must hurry to the quadrant called and be the first to take a seat

Locating points Start at the origin (0,0) The first number tells you how many places to go horizontally The second number tells you how many places vertically The point should be placed ON the line
