1 Over the coming weeks you will take part in a Sport Education Unit – the emphasis is on YOU! Each member of your team will have a role, within each role there are opportunities to win and lose points. Your team will also take part in the tournament where more points can be gained and lost! You will be assessed in the how your team functions and in the roles you fulfil. TEAM: Team members:

2 At the end of each lesson, we will spend 5 -10 minutes discussing what we have done in that lesson. We will also give the points out for a team. Finally we will discuss the following table. We will discuss how we have learnt and the qualities we have shown. If you think someone in your team has shown these PLTS, you will put their initial in the column next to it. 3 The team manager will select the team. You must ensure everyone gets an equal opportunity to play and pushing for those points! Any disagreements on the pitch or within the team you need to be on had to support players and sort the situation out. You must ensure that if a team member is away you have someone in place to fulfil their role on that day. The team manager will start on 10 points, they will lose points for the team showing lack of organisation and people having lack of opportunity. Our team manager is ……………………………………………………………

4 The team captain has a variety of responsibilities. They must lead the team by example and must check the order of play to see who and where they are playing. They are also the only player that can speak to the teachers or the referee. (so must report results). Captains start of 10 points yet lose points for lack of leadership and other players communicating with officials. Our team captain is ……………………………………………………………………

5 The team coach has a lot of responsibilities. They will need to lead a skills practice each week focusing on the specific skills for that week. (Use the QR Codes to help you) They must also communicate with manager about who they feel is performing well. 6 The team coach has one key responsibility. They must prepare and lead a warm up for every member of the team prior to every session. In the absence of the team coach, they must take on their responsibilities also. 7 This person is vital in the running of the team. They must ensure all equipment is ready and available for their team – e.g. Hockey sticks, balls, bibs, cones. They must also be prepared for the equipment needed for a skills practice, you will need to speak with the skills coach to see if any particular equipment is needed. Equipment managers start on 10 points but lose points if team is not ready for participation due to lack of equipment. Our equipment manager is ……………………………………………………………

8 The match reporter may miss some game time but there are some big points available. They must use the provided video camera and will be given a short assignment to fulfil. E.g. to interview a player etc. You will find your weekly task in the Additional tasks section of the weekly breakdown. The report will be graded out of 15. 9 The mascot has ONE job only every week. When the teacher blows the whistle 3 sharp times – the Mascot must instruct the team to perform a team cheer/dance. The team dance/cheer will be assessed for originality (so try not to repeat them). Each time, the mascot will be graded out of 10. Our mascot is …………………………………………………..

10 The Tournament Rules 1 Point for Every goal scored 0 Points for a Loss 1 Point for a draw 3 points for a win (as well as points allocated for each role). Lose points by swearing on the pitch. Lose points for arguing over decisions on the pitch. Chance for bonus points if a non doer from your team offers to referee. TEAM captains must report all results to Teachers after each match. Equipment managers must ensure the pitches are set up. GAMES WILL LAST 16 Minutes. ALL HOCKEY WILL BE CANCELLED IF BEHAVIOUR FALLS BELOW EXPECTED STANDARD. SHOULD HOCKEY BE CANCELLED – STUDENTS WILL BE TAKEN INSIDE AND WILL COMPLETE SOME WRITTEN WORK. Can all players sign below to show that they agree and adhere to the rules ………………………………………………………. Be prepared to explain in to the teacher. Team Coach – Devise a passing exercise for the team and explain what progress (if any) each team member has shown. Match Reporter – Introduce your team. Introduce each player and state what role they have in the team, why have they been given that role? Team Mascot – must devise a team celebration when a goal is scored. (e.g. dance, cheer etc.) If teacher does not see it – Teacher will look at it at end of the lesson. Team Coach – Organise a mini penalty shootout as part of the warm up. Decide who is the strongest 2 penalty takers and report to the manager with your decision.

Specific Tasks Team Managers – Prepare and deliver a speech to the class. In the speech they must comment on the journey the team have been on. The managers must also make comment on who they feel is their teams Player of the Tournament, Most Improved and Club Man. Mascots – They must coordinate a vote for the following awards; Player of the Tournament, Goal of the Tournament and Most Improved. Team Coaches – The coaches must coordinate a penalty shootout competition that will result in a final. The final must have 1 member from each team.
