3. REFINE YOUR THESIS: Qualities Thesis and “purpose” are closely related or even interchangeable. A thesis should:  Be focused  Provide your reader with a map of where your paper will take them  Give meaning to your overall message

REFINE YOUR THESIS: Questions to ask:  Why is this topic worth discussing?  What is the best way to make this relevant, interesting, and engaging for my audience?  What is the exact reason for considering this topic? Why am I writing this?  Is there a part of this topic that is worth discussing by itself?
