Arable—land that can be farmed

What does this have to do with Greece? Greece did not have much arable land –No good rivers –Rocky soil –Mountainous

Overpopulation—too many people living in one place

What does this have to do with Greece? Because Greece doesn’t have much arable land, it has a problem with overpopulation (too many people for the amount of farmland)

Colonies—land that a country takes that is far away from its mainland

What does this have to do with Greece? Greece makes colonies so some Greeks can live in better farmland and send food back to Greece

Barter—trading one good for another instead of using money

What does this have to do with Greece? Greece traded a lot and moved away from barter to using the first coins
