Statement of Reasons State your specific purpose in the introduction Body consists of reasons supporting your specific purpose.

Problem-Solution Body consists of two main points: I. Present the problem II. Offer at least one possible solution for the problem

Comparative-Advantage Supporting reasons are presented as a benefit to the audience. The benefit of each reason is stated in comparison form.

Monroe’s Motivated Sequence- best with favorable audiences Draw attention to a problem and possible solutions. Ask the audience to take action to solve the problem.

INDUCTIVE APPROACH Use with hostile audiences. Two types: Classic Inductive Negative Method

Classic Inductive Begin with your supporting evidence. Build to the statement of the specific purpose.

Negative Method Builds a case for one best option. No other option but the speaker’s is viable or acceptable.
