1 DataDirector 3.0 Permissions Enhancements

2 Permissions - Overview  A new robust, user-friendly system of permissions has been implemented within DataDirector. The new permissions system mirrors that of Edusoft while maintaining functionalities unique to DataDirector. Old Permissions System The old system of permissions was defined by user role. A user was granted a specific permission according to tasks they performed within DataDirector.

3 Permissions - Overview New Permissions System The new system defines permission based on the following hierarchy: Site Group User Permissions are differentiated for internal and external users. New permissions are categorized by context and can be granted as well as denied.

6 Permissions – List Permissions  List Permissions: Displays all available permissions, groups, and users.  Click Admin Tools. Click List Permissions.

8 Permissions – List Permission Groups List Permission Groups: Allows users to manage permissions groups Click List Permission Groups from left hand navigation.

9 Permissions – List Permission Groups Please note: all group permissions are set as DataDirector Default Permissions until the District Administrator makes changes for the group.

10 Permissions – List Permission Groups  Click Show Inherited Details at any time to view users that have inherited permissions, or have been assigned permissions according to their site, group or user type.

11 Permissions – List Permission Groups If you have permission to become another user, you can click the user icon to become that user. User Information: Lists username, user ID, and the user summary, a record of each users personal information and site affiliation. User Specific Aggregated Permissions: These permissions have been assigned according to group. User Permissions: Lists all user permissions associated with the site, group, and user.

12 Permissions – List Permission Groups Click the View User Permissions at Site tab to determine which school sites, district sites, and groups a user belongs to. Click any site name to view or edit site permissions for a specific user.

13 Permissions – List Permission Groups  Click View/Edit to grant or deny permissions to the user.

14 Permissions – Searching User Type  Users can now view and search the permissions of a specific site, group, or user.  Select Search User Permissions from the left hand navigation. Users can now for permissions by User Name, User ID, Site, or User Type

15 Permissions – Searching User Type The name and summary information for the selected user type will appear. To view and edit user information: Click View under the User Summary heading. To view and edit user permissions: Click View under the User Permissions heading. To become a user: Click the user icon.

16 Permissions – Search Sites  You can also search by site by clicking the Search Site Permissions tab.

17 Permissions – Search Sites  Click on the user group to view a summary of all permissions associated with that user group.

18 Permissions – Add a User  To add a new user and assign specific permissions, click on the Communications tab. Select Add a User from the left hand navigation  Enter first and last name of the user.  Complete user information, and assign a user name, and password.  Choose the site, year, and type of user. Click Add User to Selected Sites.

20 You may assign groups and alter permissions.

21 Permissions – Sharing Users can also choose to share exams, assessments, and reports with a site, a group of users, or an individual user.

22 Permissions – Sharing To share with a group, select, Add Permissions for User Type at Site. To share with an entire site, click Add Permissions for a Site.

23 Permissions – Sharing You may then set permissions for your exam, assessment, or report. By selecting Excel Academy, and Teacher, you could share your exam, assessment or report with all teachers at Excel Academy.
