As we agreed in our last lesson, James was not your typical king
As we agreed in our last lesson, James was not your typical king! He published a book all about witches and witchcraft. He was also a VERY superstitious man. Task: As we meet our guests, tick off any of the characteristics they speak about.

Task: Write a book report which reviews James’ book using your information sheet.
What might it look like Sir? Introduction – What is the book called? When was it written? Who was the author and what is he like? Paragraph 1 – Describe the key features. What information does the book include? Paragraph 2 – Why do you think the book was popular at the time? Paragraph 3 – What are your thoughts of the book? Does it contain good ideas? Would it be popular today?

Final thoughts: In 1623 William Shakespeare wrote Macbeth, a play about witches and witchcraft. Why do you think he did this? Who would it impress? Why are modern authors still writing about witches?
