Syllabus Concept Statistics Important Lessons Learned

Concept Annual International competition that is conducted during C&E week. Hosted by 21 EW Regiment and supported by CFSCE. Conducted in plain text. Teams register with their equipment capability and the competition unfolds around it (ALE vs SSB). Competitions lasted for 36 hours with ~ 20min per radio check. Typical Participation include teams from: CAF Regular Force Units CAF Primary Reserve Force Units CFARS US – MARS US – Coast Guard US – National Guard

Statistics With some minor fluctuations in our numbers: 82 Teams (~double from last year) 354 participants within those teams 5 countries (US, UK, NZ, AU, CA, Italy*[NATO]) 3 Continents 6 Teams were turned away due to late registration Coordination occurred through telephone, email, chat, web-portal. Largest transmitter reported was 1.2kW (NZ). QRTs were invited to participate.

Important Lessons Learned The culture around HF is not stagnant. The are eager and dedicated about the craft. Give more time with additional planning considerations, the competition could double size again through better advertising to European, Indian, and African countries. Take this competition seriously, our international partners do. Simple manpack can go a long way (VHF 30km, HF 300km). Borne from an AAR point, the chat functionality was a big hit. Which drew people to the website where I could post updates an new information.
