1. Written Communication Next Steps  Refinement of Organization criterion  We have raised the bar for “meets standard” from “organizational pattern” being “intermittently observable” to “mostly observable.”  We have sought and will continue to seek more closely aligned writing assignments from parallel courses, particularly in disciplines outside English.  This semester, we are assessing much more similar student papers from an Fitchburg State “Economic Development” course and an MWCC “Macroeconomics” course.  Again, though, the two paper assignments have disparate requirements for the integration of academic sources.

2. Quantitative Reasoning Next Steps  Developed annotated lab report to identify elements of QR Excerpt: How did energy expenditure change from rest to exercise? What happened to energy expenditure during the 8 minutes of exercise? “Judgments/Conclusions” - Students are expected to make conclusions about how energy expenditure responds to acute and chronic exercise training by referencing the data they collected and graphed.

3. Quantitative Reasoning Next Steps cont’d At both institutions:  Target Biology lab reports  Target caloric intake analysis lab projects from fitness classes  In return for those who supply artifacts: We offer results of the assessment, (quantitative and/or qualitative) and an opportunity to meet with the assessment team.

Information Literacy Next Steps  Continue revision of rubric to ensure alignment with what is being assessed  Develop lexicon of common terminology for use amongst constituencies: faculty, librarians, students  Create assignment prompts that engage all aspects of rubric  Assess transfer level artifacts – second year at MWCC/3 rd year at FSU

5. Civic Engagement Next Steps  Finalize the Rubric  Re-score artifacts that we collected before with the finalized new rubric  Norm the rubric/make changes if needed  Score the new artifacts with the finalized new rubric.
