Facilitate a planning session or retreat with the Board of Directors Host World Café or Community Conversation events with Chapter Members and/or other stakeholders Conduct surveys with board, members, and/or other stakeholders

Cluster similar ideas, opportunities, topics that emerged through the planning sessions, retreats, events, surveys, etc. Eliminate items that are not doable at that time Prioritize remaining items Determine how many can be accomplished in the timeframe (1 year, 3 years, 5 years…?)

Set timelines/deadlines Assign a leader for each goal Identify additional workgroup or team members for each goal, as needed Expect updates during board meetings Document progress Provide reminders when needed

A simple “Thank You” can go a long way Acknowledge the work that is done as you go along Find a way to celebrate the unique skills, talents, perspectives, etc. that each board member brings to your chapter board In public and individual ways

Be sure to check in with the task leaders and workgroups to see where they need help – good role for the executive board or steering committee Spend some time on individual conversations with board members, chapter members, and stakeholders

Tap into chapter members and other stakeholders for help Utilize resources/assistance available via National APSE o Planning session/retreat facilitators o Delegate Council o Subject Matter Experts o Opportunities to network with other states/chapters
