Religion 4 Most civilizations, especially ancient ones, have a religious system. A religious system includes a set of beliefs, usually in a god or gods, together with forms of worship. Religion bound the people together in a common way of life. Religion also helped to set behavior boundaries and expectations. In ancient times, fear of punishment from a god or gods motivated good deeds and actions.
