Background Information  This ad was created by AdLab which create ads for all kinds of clients  A student run agency located in Boston, Massachusetts  This was for the state of Massachusetts

Questions To Consider  What is your initial reaction?  Who is the intended audience?  What is the perspective?  Who/ What is left out?  What is the tone, mood, and Purpose?

Initial Reaction  My initial reaction is that it’s scary and makes a statement of how dangerous this is  It puts into perspective of the reality of texting and driving  Little mistakes by sending a simple text can change your life in an instant

Who is Intended Audience?  The intended audience is mostly teens because of the language used on the tombstones.  Also include adults who text and drive or who have kids to teach them the dangers of texting and driving.

Point of View/ Perspective  The point of view could be the world telling these people how dangerous this is.  From a parents perspective to show their kids the danger and how sad it would be to lose them

Technical/ Rhetorical Strategies  Contrast-The white words on the black background  The light on the tombstones draws your attention  With the light and contrast of the words it gets people to understand and actually see the consequences instead of just being told that it’s wrong

Emotional Appeal  Sad  Somber  Shocking  Tragic  This is conveyed through the words “your last words” and the tombstones

Ethical and Logical Appeal  Its illegal and you shouldn’t do it because it puts yourself and other people in harms way

Who/ What is left out?  people are left out  The people’s names are not on there  The flowers and commemoration of the people  Without this it shows how we don’t acknowledge or understand the consequences of this issue

Tone, Mood, Purpose  Mood- sorrowful, devastating, and warnful  Tone-concerned and fearful of what this issue will be like in the future  Purpose-is to bring awareness and educate the people on the reality of this issue
