What are we doing today? (1) Learning about the physical properties of solid, liquids, and gas (2) Define: invisible, combustion, pouring, squash, particles, and states Mr. Ted's Science class Tuesday October 27th, 2015 Unit: States of Matter
2
Fix shape Cannot be poured cannot be squashed (particles) Physical Properties of Solids Mr. Ted's Science class Tuesday October 27th, 2015
3
Can be poured Take the shape of the container Cannot be squashed easily (particles) Physical Properties of Liquids Mr. Ted's Science class Tuesday October 27th, 2015
4
Takes the shape of the container Can squash easily (particles) You can pour gas easily. Physical Properties of Gases Mr. Ted's Science class Tuesday October 27th, 2015
5
Complete the Skills Challenge on page 27 of you Science Textbook Mr. Ted's Science class Tuesday October 27th, 2015
6
Some gases are invisible and some are not. Some gases cause combustion: burning Invisible: Something which cannot be seen Combustion: burning Physical Properties of Gas Mr. Ted's Science class Tuesday October 27th, 2015
7
Effervescence: When something fizzes and produces bubbles and gas Pouring: transferring something from one container to another Non-combustible Gas Mr. Ted's Science class Tuesday October 27th, 2015

Facts of the Day Some gases are invisible and some gases are combustible. Matter has tiny particles Solid, liquid, and gas have physical properties Solids have fixed shapes, cannot be poured and squashed Liquids can be poured, it takes the shape of the container, and cannot be squashed easily. Gases take the shape of the container and can be squashed and pour easily.
