V 3.19 2 Purposes Go further into computer science techniques and learn about algorithmic methods, compilers, object oriented languages… Learn to detect a problem which draws its solutions from Artificial Intelligence, using neural networks, expert systems, natural language… Ask ourselves a few questions about man, machine and intelligence : Is it important to increase man’s understanding of reasoning and learning ? Can machines think ? (Alan Turing) Is a man or a woman just the sum of his or her beliefs ? What is ‘intelligence’ ?

V 3.19 5 Is A.I. in the field of ‘Computer Science’ ? (Dickson Lukose) Psychology How are models represented in the brain, how do they interact with the mechanisms for perception, memory, and learning, and how do they affect or control behaviour ? Linguistics What is the relationship between a word, the object it names, and a mental model ? Philosophy What is the relationship between knowledge, meaning, and mental models ? How are the models used in reasoning, and how is such reasoning related to formal logic ? Computer Science How can a person's model of the word be reflected in a computer system ? What languages and tools are needed to describe such models ?
