1 iOAP Setup and Maintenance of Assessment Laptop

2 Introduction In order to have smooth functioning of laptops during ion assessments, a few setup activities have to be done and some precautions need to be taken to maintain these laptops as their requirement is critical to the online assessments. In this video you will learn: HowHow to change the computer name. HowHow to disable user account control settings. HowHow to disable firewall. HowHow to create user accounts for iON assessments. HowHow to provide admin rights. HowHow to maintain the assessment laptop. Let us begin with the process to change the computer name. Gd Note: Can we make all the HOWs as clickable links to branch into the respective sections.

3 Setup - Change Computer Name To begin setting up the laptop for assessment, you need to first change the computer name by resetting it to your asset ID. To do so, go to the Start menu and right-click Computer.

4 Setup - Change Computer Name From the sub menu, click Properties.

5 Setup - Change Computer Name Click Change Settings link.

6 Setup - Change Computer Name A System Properties window will be displayed. Click Change to rename the computer.

7 Setup - Change Computer Name The Computer Name/Domain Changes window is displayed. Enter your laptop asset ID in the Computer name field and click OK. The computer name will be changed to your asset ID.

8 Setup – Disable User Account Control Settings To disable the user account control settings, go to the Start menu and access the Control Panel.

9 Setup – Disable User Account Control Settings Select User Accounts.

10 Setup – Disable User Account Control Settings Click Change User Account Control settings.

11 Setup – Disable User Account Control Settings In the UAC settings window, drag the trackbar control to Never notify and click OK. The UAC setting is disabled.

12 Setup – Disable Firewall To disable firewall, go to Start menu and access Control Panel.

13 Setup – Disable Firewall Select Windows Firewall.

14 Setup – Disable Firewall Select the Turn Windows Firewall on or off option for both networks public and private. Then, click OK to apply changes. The Firewall is disabled. Process incomplete as final slide not placed yet.

15 Setup – Create User Accounts To create accounts for users, go to the Start menu. Enter compmgmt.msc in the Search programs and files section and press the Enter key.

16 Setup – Create User Accounts In the appearing Computer Management window, click Local Users and Groups in the System Tools.

17 Setup – Create User Accounts On clicking Local Users and Groups, a Users folder and a Groups folder are displayed.

18 Setup – Create User Accounts Right-click the Users folder and select the New User option.

19 Setup – Create User Accounts In the appearing New User window, you need to enter the following details: User name: Ion Assessment Password: Password@1234 Confirm Password: Password@1234

20 Setup – Create User Accounts After entering the necessary, deselect the option of User must change password at next logon.

21 Setup – Create User Accounts On doing so, the following two check boxes are enabled. Now, select the options of User cannot change password and Password never expires by checking their respective boxes.

22 Setup – Create User Accounts After selecting the relevant options, click Create. The new account is created.

23 Setup – Provide Admin Rights To provide admin rights to the newly created user, double-click the Users folder. The newly created user account will be displayed in the list of users.

24 Setup – Provide Admin Rights In order to provide admin rights to this newly created user, double-click the Ion Assessment user in the user list.

25 Setup – Provide Admin Rights On doing so, the Ion Assessment Properties window will be displayed. From the tabs appearing in the window, click Member Of.

26 Setup – Provide Admin Rights In the Member Of tab, click Add.

27 Setup – Provide Admin Rights A Select Groups window will be displayed. Click Advanced to proceed.

28 Setup – Provide Admin Rights In the appearing window, click Find Now.

29 Setup – Provide Admin Rights Select Administrators and click OK.

30 Setup – Provide Admin Rights Then, click OK in the Select Groups window.

31 Setup – Provide Admin Rights Finally, click OK in the Ion Assessment Properties window to complete the process of giving admin rights to the Ion Assessment user.

32 Setup – Provide Admin Rights Similarly, create another account with the username as Administrator and password as Password1234. Give this user admin rights by following the same steps that were needed to create the Ion Assessment user and give admin rights to it. Finally, restart the assessment laptop for the newly created user accounts and admin rights to take effect.

33 Maintenance - Instructions For hardware issues, you need to contact the local IS Team. Following are some software-related issues: laptop keeps rebooting. applications keep crashing. certain applications cause the laptop to freeze all functions. Following are some of the causes: installation of unauthorized software. virus infection. operating System (OS) corruption. tampering software settings. Note: Do not install any other software except that what is required for assessments. Any installation of software should be carried out through proper CR process. Also, do not force shut down the system as it can damage software and affect operational efficiency.
