3 Sybil Ludington Troops sent home to do spring planting
Sybil volunteered to warn her neighbors that the British were coming The militiamen were able to stop the British in Connecticut Became known as the “Female Paul Revere”

4 Margaret Corbin Stayed by husband’s side during battle
Husband was a matross (cannon loader) Gunner was killed – husband took his place Margaret helped her husband by being the matross Husband was killed and she took his place until she was shot Congress awarded her a lifetime pension

5 Deborah Sampson Enlisted in the 4th Massachusetts regiment
Used the name Robert Shurtleff Treated her own wounds so that no one would find out she was a women True identity was discovered after becoming sick and being treated by a doctor Only women known to have listed and served in the Revolutionary war as a man Honorably discharged

6 Ann Trotter Bailey Rode through area to recruit volunteers for the militia Scout and messenger of important info. Boldly traveled through enemy territory Became known as the “White Squaw of Kanahwa”

7 Lydia Darragh Darragh house was in Philadelphia – across from British headquarters British officers used Darragh house for meetings Lydia overheard news of a British attack on Whitemarsh Walked to Whitemarsh to warn General Washington and his troops of the attack Continental army was ready because of her bravery
